Mitigating Traffic & Improving Mobility Along the I-494 Corridor
The I-494 Corridor Commission was established in 1986 so the member cities of Bloomington, Richfield, Edina, Eden Prairie and Minnetonka could more easily work together, jointly, on reducing traffic congestion.
The 494 Corridor is made up of elected officials and city administrators from our member cities, and are supported by representatives from MnDOT, the Metropolitan Council, Hennepin County and the private business community.

How the Commission Works
The I-494 Corridor Commission works with businesses, residents, and agencies to reduce congestion along the I-494 corridor.
Commuter Services
Commuter Services is one of five Transportation Management Organizations (TMOs) in the Twin Cities metropolitan region. Our staff works closely with employers, commuters, and residents to promote alternatives to drive-alone transportation.
Commuter Services’ mission is to mitigate traffic congestion and air pollution along the I-494 corridor by encouraging the use of sustainable transportation options, including bicycling, walking, carpooling, vanpooling, and telework.
Twin Cities Telework
Twin Cities Telework is a program of Commuter Services promoting telework as an alternative to driving to work. This program has a deep set of resources for teleworkers/hybrid workers, managers, and employees.
These resources include educational webinars for all.
- Tips on how to succeed and maintain your mental health and well-being in a remote work arrangement.
- Guidelines for home office safety and ergonomics.
- Templates for telework policies, agreements, and daily work logs.
- Recommendations for manager success and communication.
Working with Partners
The Minnesota Dept. of Transportation, the Metropolitan Council, Hennepin County, and our member cities all play a role in improving I-494.
The I-494 Corridor Commission works with these agencies to:
- Identify priorities along the corridor
- Search for funding for future improvements
